Modest dress should be the rule in Tajikistan. Women aren’t expected to wear either burkahs or head coverings.

A male should not be expected to be welcomed into a home with only females present. Boys will not be left along with girls, and during large gatherings men and women will often remain separated.

Accept tea if it is offered. Refusal is considered to be an insult.

If a toast is made, try to make strong eye contact.
