It is not customary to wear swim clothing away from the beach. Dress smartly and stylishly when out on the town, as appearance is a point of pride in Jamaica.

Return greetings when you hear them. Shaking hands is preferred when you first meet someone. Refer to people by their formal titles until such time as they choose to move to more informal greetings.
