Unfortunately, women may find themselves subject to unwanted attention from men on the beaches. In this situation, either ignore the shouts or make it clear that you have no interest.

When entering a business, it is appropriate to say hello (“bonjour”) and goodbye (“au revoir”) when leaving. Generally speaking, if you do speak French it is preferred that you use the formal “vous” form rather than the informal “tu”.
