Etiquette in Puerto Rico

The commonwealth is an unincorporated territory within the United States.

The official languages of Puerto Rico are Spanish and English.

The majority of citizens follow Christianity.

The currency of Puerto Rico is the U.S dollar.

Men will generally shake hands with one another and women typically kiss one another on the cheek and hug. Men and women might kiss one another on the cheek outside of business, but in business situations a handshake is still preferred.

Dress conservatively when you go out on the town, avoiding shorts and bare shoulders. Beachwear is completely inappropriate away from pools and the beach.
